Government and public sector cover crop supply worldwide
Cover crop seeds for government and public sector projects worldwide
Chemiseed Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian supplier of legume cover crop seed and soil conditioners to plantations since 2003, supplies tropical leguminous cover crop seeds for reforestation, slope stabilization, watershed rehabilitation, and erosion control projects run by government agencies and public sector bodies. Chemiseed Sdn. Bhd. (624575-H) is a registered vendor of FGV Holdings Berhad. We supply buyers worldwide on request, from Malaysia. We have supplied seed for land development, highway slope revegetation, and estate rehabilitation projects. Chemiseed exports from Malaysia: where the destination requires one, consignments travel with a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Department of Agriculture Malaysia (DOA) for export, on request. Our five species, MB, PJ, CM, CP, and CC, are established performers in tropical conditions worldwide for nitrogen contribution and erosion reduction on sloped terrain.
Supply capabilities for government projects
Bulk quantity supply
Seed quantities are quoted per project, from single blocks to large programmes; minimum order and lead time are confirmed on the quotation. Pre-shipment germination testing with quality certificates available for tender documentation and procurement compliance.
Technical documentation
Species datasheets, seeding rate calculations, establishment protocols, and expected outcomes documentation suitable for project proposals, environmental impact assessments, and audit requirements.
Worldwide export and delivery
We supply buyers worldwide on request, from Malaysia. Where the destination requires one, seed consignments travel with a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Department of Agriculture Malaysia (DOA) for export, on request. Import permits and admissibility remain the buyer's responsibility. Domestic delivery across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. Logistics planning for remote international and domestic site locations.
Complementary products
SoilBoost EA soil conditioner (manufactured exclusively for Chemiseed Sdn. Bhd. and Kudzu Seeds Trading) for degraded site rehabilitation and RB Lure pheromone traps for integrated pest management in oil palm and coconut zones.
Project types we support
Slope stabilization and highway revegetation
Cover crops reduce soil erosion on cut slopes along highways, railways, and development corridors. PJ and CM are commonly specified for rapid early cover on exposed subsoil: Calopogonium mucunoides covers the soil 3 to 6 months after sowing, and Pueraria javanica reaches 60 to 70% cover at about 4 months (PROSEA 11).
Watershed rehabilitation and reforestation
Leguminous cover crops restore nitrogen to depleted soils, preparing degraded land for tree planting programs. They suppress invasive species and reduce erosion during the tree establishment phase.
FELDA and state land development schemes
Cover crops are standard practice in new oil palm and rubber planting schemes. MB is widely preferred for state-managed oil palm developments because of its dense weed suppression, heavy biomass, and shade tolerance, which lets it carry the cover on into the maturing canopy where PJ thins out. MB is nursery-raised and transplanted, never broadcast: published plantings used 320 seedlings per hectare on peat (MPOB TT No. 501) and 680 seedlings per hectare at 1.5 m spacing on mineral soil (Samedani et al. 2015).
Mining site rehabilitation
Cover crops help rehabilitate ex-mining land by fixing nitrogen and protecting poor substrates from erosion. SoilBoost EA soil conditioner can be used alongside cover crop seeding on degraded sites. SoilBoost EA is a soil conditioner: it is not a fertiliser substitute and not a disease treatment.
Species selection by project type
| Project Type | Primary Species | Alternative | Key Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slope stabilization | PJ, CM | CP | Rapid early cover: CM covers the soil 3 to 6 months after sowing (PROSEA 11) |
| Reforestation / watershed | CM, PJ | CC | Soil nitrogen restoration, invasive species suppression |
| Oil palm development | MB | PJ | Dense weed suppression and the shade tolerance to persist as the canopy matures (67 to 84% Ndfa, Cheah, Zaharah & Aminuddin 2010) |
| Rubber development | PJ (open, immature) | CP or CC once the canopy closes | Strong nitrogen contribution while the canopy is open; PJ thins as it closes, so CP and CC take over |
| Mining rehabilitation | CM + SoilBoost EA | PJ | Early cover and nitrogen contribution on degraded substrates |
A note on nitrogen figures for tender documentation. The citable figures are these. For Pueraria javanica, up to 250 kg N/ha/yr accumulated in aboveground biomass at 85 to 93% Ndfa in one rubber-intercrop trial in northeast Thailand (Clermont-Dauphin et al. 2016, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment 217:79-88), which is a measured upper reference point from a single site rather than a design value, and which came with a finding that the cover reduced the drought resilience of the young trees on water-limited ground. For Mucuna bracteata, 67 to 84% Ndfa by 15N isotope dilution (Cheah, Zaharah & Aminuddin 2010, Oil Palm Bulletin 60), which is a proportion, not a quantity. For Centrosema pubescens and Calopogonium mucunoides, no verified species-specific nitrogen figure is published. For Calopogonium caeruleum no species-specific annual rate exists; one Papua New Guinea oil palm study measured 28 to 75% Ndfa (Pipai et al. 2023, Plant and Soil 491:665-680). We are happy to supply these citations with a tender submission.

Frequently asked questions
Can Chemiseed provide documentation for government tender submissions?
Yes. We provide seed quality certificates, germination test reports, species datasheets with agronomic specifications, and formal quotations formatted for government procurement processes.
What agencies has Chemiseed supplied to?
We have supplied cover crop seed for projects involving land development agencies, state economic development corporations, highway construction contractors, and estate management companies working on government-linked projects in Malaysia.
Can cover crops meet environmental compliance requirements?
Leguminous cover crops are recognized as best management practice (BMP) for erosion control in EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) reports and MSPO (Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil) certification. They are specified in many state-level guidelines for plantation development and slope management.
How quickly can you fulfil a large government order?
Lead time depends on current stock availability and order volume, and is confirmed on the quotation. For projects with scheduled planting windows, contact us as early as possible to secure allocation.
Does Chemiseed export for international government projects?
Yes. Chemiseed supplies buyers worldwide on request, from Malaysia, on a quote-only basis, including government and institutional projects. Where the destination requires one, seed consignments travel with a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Department of Agriculture Malaysia (DOA) for export, on request. SoilBoost EA is a mined mineral product rather than plant material, so a phytosanitary certificate is generally not the applicable document for it. Import permits and admissibility remain the buyer's responsibility.
