Penyelidikan yang dijalankan oleh Lembaga Minyak Sawit Malaysia (MPOB) mengesahkan bahawa Mucuna bracteata memperoleh 67 hingga 84% nitrogennya secara langsung dari atmosfera, membekalkan 150 hingga 200 kg nitrogen tetap per hektar setahun di bawah keadaan ladang Asia Tenggara, pengurangan yang terbukti dalam pergantungan baja sintetik. TABIAT PERTUMBUHAN
Toleran teduh semasa penubuhan. Pertumbuhan awal perlahan semasa 8 hingga 10 bulan pertama sebelum menjadi sangat prolifik. Mencapai 100% litupan tanah dalam tempoh 6 bulan di bawah hujan yang mencukupi, disahkan sebagai penutupan kanopi terpantas bagi mana-mana tanaman penutup bumi yang diuji dalam percubaan ladang Malaysia.
