The cost difference between applying 6 kg/ha and 10 kg/ha of Mucuna bracteata seed across a 300-hectare block is approximately RM 4,800–6,000 (at current certified seed prices). But a 6 kg/ha rate on a high-weed-pressure site with heavy Mikania infestation may produce a stand with 30–40% canopy gaps at month 4, requiring an additional herbicide round costing RM 120–180/ha — far exceeding the seed cost savings. The correct rate saves money in the long run by getting establishment right the first time.
